This has been tried and found true by myself, my children, and a number of my customers at my child care center, including children, parents, & elderly; LOOK AT BOTTOM OF POST FOR SHORT CUT AND A LIST OF ILLS THAT IT'S USEFUL FOR!
As soon as you get a cough, make the following tea;
2 - 3 handfuls MULLEIN (avail. at most healthfood stores for next to nothing cost-wise) 2 - 3 handfuls CHAMOMILE(ALSO avail. at most healthfood stores for next to nothing cost-wise)
1/2 gallon boiling water
Add the herbs to the chammomile, return to boil, stir, then simmer for thirty minutes. Pour through filter. (This can take a bit of time as mullein tends to clog it. Time can be shortened if herbs are first strained out and then mixture is poured through filter.) Give one 8 oz cup of tea to person sufferring from bronchial issue. If symptoms persist, give another 8 oz cups 3 to 4 hours later.
SHORT CUT; I have done this twice when I waited too long to treat my cough easily with tea. It worked MAGICALLY!!! Take mullein and roll it into a cigarette or put it in a standard pipe and smoke it. You probably will do this only once and not need to again! It tastes gross but it's worth it!!!!
The following were taken from websites. Google search 'mullein'! 'Mullein is specific for bronchitis with hard cough and soreness. It is also a herb for cold and congestion. The leaves and flowers are used to reduce mucous and stimulate coughing up of phlegm.
The dried leaves are sometimes smoked in an ordinary tobacco pipe to relieve the irritation of the respiratory mucus membranes, and will completely control, it is said, the hacking cough of consumption. They can be employed with equal benefit when made into cigarettes, for asthma and spasmodic coughs in general.
