Take any size wax carton; milk, juice, etc. and open the top or cut out the plastic pour spigot. Set it on your clothes dryer and add lint and strings from the laundry as you empty the lint trap. Every so often add some pieces of candle wax. Compact it tightly as you go. When it is full you can tape it closed till you need it. When time to use it, remove the tape so you have a rough edge to light. You can also light a pile of crumpled newspaper around it to get it started.
