I store my tomatoes in the freezer. Not all the tomatoes in the garden mature at the same time so I just pick them as they get ripe. In the winter when things slow down, I do my canning. Just run the tomato under warm tap water and the skin falls off. Next I put them in the microwave and thaw them out a bit then remove the cores. Then I'm ready to slice them up and make my tomato sauce or salsa or whatver I want to make with them. Makes the kitchen messy only once a year! Ron Lundquist, ND, entered 2005-02-25 |
