Ocean spray days..
I lived across the street from the ocean in Winthrop Mass in the 60's and 70's..the beach was my playground and I never had anyone watching me..I was very responsible and strangers were not something we worried about as much. My family was considered a blackmark on the face of an up and coming yuppie town. I was raised by a single parent who was also a burlesque dancer..My life was hard but fun..Once a young man was crossing the street ..just a small street with 2 way traffic..and was hit broadside by a car. This young man was hit clear to the side of the road by the beach wall which stood about 4 ft high. I ran into the house to tell my mom what had happened and that we needed to call an ambulance. While a crowd of on-lookers gathered my mom ran..in high heels..out to the young man..she began giving him mouth to mouth, actually POPPED his eye back into his head..and saved this young man's life. I don't think anyone acknowledged what she did that day or any of the wonderful little things she tried to do..she was very special..and totally controversial..she actually did this same thing for my best friend's German Shepard when he got hit..except for the eye thing..she was amazing..God bless you ma..
