Just Growing Up
I grew up in Ohio, not on a farm ,but in a very rural area, with dirt roads etc.Dad always had chores for us to do . The one I remember most was when our driveway between our house and the one next door was to steep to get a car up,and that was in the summer--forget the winter! well he got some guy to cut another drive on the otherside of the house, and it wasn't near as steep. than he got another guy with an old 1937 Chevey dumptruck to haul in about 10 or 12 loads of used paving bricks from a street in town that was being rebuilt. Every day me and my two sisters had to carry those brick up that hill,so my Dad could lay them when he got home from work. Now you can emagen what happened when we didn't get enough of those bricks hauled to keep him busy tell dark.I guess I was about eight years old and my sisters were a few years older.and they could always bamboozel Dad,so it seemed like I carried most of those bricks by my self---about four at a time.Iguess thats why I hate bricks so much.I sure wish I could turn the hands of time back,I'd love to just be able to do things for my Mom and Dad again.I hope they are looking over me now from up above.
