Hobo Bread.....
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups water, 2 c. raisns, 4 t.soda. 1 c.sweetening ( brown or white sugar, honey, molasses . 4 T.shortening . ( oil, melted lard or bacon grease etc). 4 c. of some kind of floor, a pinch of salt.

Directions:
HOBO BREAD RECIPE ; Boil 2 1/2 water. Pour it over 2 c. raisins and 4 t. soda. Let that mixture rest overnight. Next morning, add 1 c. sweetening (brown or white sugar, honey, molassess - less if supplies are short). Also add 4 T. shortening ( oil, melted lard or butter, bacon grease, etc)., 4 cups of some kind of flour, and
a pinch of salt. pour the resulting batter into 3 loaf pans. Each should be about half full. ( The Depression - Era, hobos baked this in 1-lb. coffee cans.)
Bake at 350 F for about 1 hour. Cool before removing from pan. Enjoy !
