Caramelized Balsamic Onions .
2 tablespoons butter, melted.
1 tablespoons olive oil .
1/3 cup balsamic vinegar .
2 tablespoons dry white wine, chicken
broth .
1 tablespoon granulated sugar .
1/4 teaspoon salt .
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground pepper .
4 medium yellow onions .
Salt , pepper , fresh thyme sprigs
(optional) .

1) . preheat oven to 425 Deg. In a 3-
qrt. Rectangular baking dish . combine
butter and olive oil . whisk in vinegar ,
wine, sugar, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/8
teaspoon pepper. Set aside .
2). Peel the papery outer layers of the
onions, but do not cut off the ends of
the onion . Cut onions in half from stem
thru the root ends. Place onions in dish.
Cut side up . cover loosely with foil.
Bake for 25 minutes. Oven 350 Deg. !!!

3). Remove foil. Using tongs , carefully
turn onions over so they are cut sides
down. Bake, uncovered, for 25 minutes to
30 minutes more or until Onions are
tender and balsamic vinegar is thickened
and caramelized. Season with additional
salt and pepper .
Serve onions cut side up . if desired
serve with fresh thyme.
