1/2lb, flour, 1/2lb,medium oatmeal. 1/4 lb sugar. 1/2 teaspoonful ginger.1 teaspoonful bicarbonate of soda. 10 ozs,syrup. 3ozs lard. 1/4 pint of milk. pinch of salt. size of baking tin 11 1/2
Method. Mix together the flour, oatmeal, and ginger. Melt the sugar, lard and syrup and add a little of the milk , Pour this mixture into the flour, etc., and mix to a stiff batter. Add the bicarbonate of soda dissolved in the rest of the milk. mix quickly, pour into a shallow tin lined with greased paper(not needed if using non stick tin)and bake for 1hour 20 minutes at 150c, This is far better than Sheeps Head Broth!
