2 heads of leaf lettuce
6 slices of bacon, cooked till crispy
6 green onions, sliced thinly
5 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
We had this quite often when I was growing up on the farm in Pennsylvania.
It is basically a salad with a good hot dressing.
Tear the lettuce into bite-sized pieces.
Put all of the remaining ingredients except the bacon into a pot and simmer until the sugar has dissolved.
Remove from stove.
Break the bacon up into tiny pieces and add it to the pot.
Pour this dressing over the lettuce and eat immediately.
