ISP Question revisited
[Return to Topics]

The reason I asked the question below is that if you keep an eye on the numbers- which I usually don't- but this jumped out at me this morning, one number keeps coming up alot with different peoples name on it. The number is, sometimes it comes up as ret, sometimes as kelly from Ga. On my previous thread about this below it came up as Steve19438. So what the heck is going on? Is this Kelley, ret, or Steve19438, or someone trying to be everyone? Am I really talking to other people or are the voices in my head now typing messages to me as well? Everyone might want to take a look at everything that has been said in their name over the last few days and see if it's really what they said.

Wow, did I just write this or was it someone else? Now you may know why I am the way I am, whoever I am, what's my name again?

Thanks Al, I put it in my favorites but probably won't use it much. I just thought I was loosing it this morning. A bunch of people had the same ISP numbers and I thought maybe there weren't really any people on here and I had been talking to some computer somewhere, or the voices in my head had started typing to me. Got kind of scarry there for awhile.Lol But it's ok now that I took the pill the nice guys in the white coats gave me. It's hard typing in this white jacket, you can't use the arms. they have em tied round backkkk. opps :)

DR I was reading below and noticed that Toolman had included my handle, (Alias), along with Cindi and Kelly and some others as having the same numbers. I don't know what to make of it either. I never paid a lot of attention to it but, so far, I don't think anyone has posted anything for me. However I have noticed that my numbers do change from time to time. So, I guess it's as you said, an AOL thing.

I have included my e-mail address for anyone who wants to check it out............gfp

I sho hope my good buddy ole Salmon don't hear about that. He wrote the book on ISP# while Al Gore was busy inventing this dang inner net thang. harrrrr harrrrr harrrrrrr

Each ISP are assigned a block of server numbers. Server numbers normal stay the same. Each time you connect to your server, you get a different number, but it still has to go through your ISP. The addresses you listed are AOL folks. Remember how many people use AOL. I can enter those numbers into a data base and it will tell me the server, but it won't let me know where the person is or who they are. Privacy issues. But having been to on this board a long time, they are not the same person.

Dieselrider, I ran it through twice and it comes up AOL, that only means that more than likely an AOL address. My website's search and ban tool is usually pretty accurate. I whacked them trolls real quick.

morin DR voices in your head, hmmm do you do some of the same things i do , you know them them desiel fumes in a closed garage do strange things to me too lol,i kinda remember isp a little especially when something is goin on like when the trolls were here the other day, and yup your right that one seemed farmilar to me when i saw the new person jessi post, same isp as you just posted not sure whats the story about them ,salmoneye knows how to trace them i learned when he posted it one day but forgot it the next.if he would be so kind to instruct us again it would be appreciated, i always thought they were unique to the poster or at least the area, im probably wrong though .

Dieselrider    Posted 02-19-2004 at 10:44:41       [Reply]  [No Email]
Ok, but take a look at the thread on "stepping in it" below (page two now maybe), the same number comes up on two or more posts in a row, by different people. Isn't that a bit much for a coincidence? Could that really happen??!!? Me thinks someone be playin around a might.

walt    Posted 02-19-2004 at 11:00:00       [Reply]  [No Email]
Yes, if someone wants to post using another name, they can. With millions of users, the IP address that comes up on this board, is the server's. Not the specific person. From yours, I figured you have satellite/direcway system from Good guess?

Dieselrider    Posted 02-19-2004 at 12:29:22       [Reply]  [No Email]
You got it. I was just wondering on the others as several names come up with one number and sometimes they don't. There is no significance I just wondered.

toolman    Posted 02-19-2004 at 10:58:58       [Reply]  [No Email]
that number has been the one for lots of different folks , kelly, alias, sdg, and cindi just to name a few, and cindi and kelly have also sometimes , it must be like the others said , and where the population is heavy they might use the same ones for different folks, mine has been the same for as long as i can remember , but then not many people around here compared to other is interesting though how they allocate them wish i knew more about it all.

walt    Posted 02-19-2004 at 11:01:53       [Reply]  [No Email]
Come on guys, its AOL. Millions of users all routing through the mainframe in VA. That's the number you see, again, not the individual.

Clipper    Posted 02-19-2004 at 10:56:11       [Reply]  [No Email]
I can't explain that....unless they are using different names for fun or something?

toolman    Posted 02-19-2004 at 11:16:10       [Reply]  [No Email]
no thats not the case , kelly is kelly i have conversed with her via email, and if you go back and check lots of different folks have same ones sometimes different ones the next but same names, i think walts right on this.

Dieselrider    Posted 02-19-2004 at 14:35:34       [Reply]  [No Email]
OK,Ok, as long as they are real people and not the voices again. They take up too much of my day already, I'm not about to share my computer time with them too.

Toolman you are you,... aren't you?

toolman    Posted 02-19-2004 at 15:36:40       [Reply]  [No Email]
i yam what i yam, i get so tired talking to them voices that ive taken to using that thing my wife uses on me ,THE SILENT TREATMENT.

Dieselrider Yeah but    Posted 02-19-2004 at 15:40:48       [Reply]  [No Email]
then they start talking to each other where I can hear them. You'd think they would at least go to another room. lol
