Herr Clink's knees going out between the holidays, I've been doing her laundry.
Well, My own standing at more and more attention and getting harder and harder bend to put on, I've got to do some of my own.
What worries me, is the whites of her whites going to lighten up the darks of my darks?
Any clarification to my concerns will be greatly appreciated.
Laundress in drag.

My spouse usually comes home and yells something about "you don't mix colors with the whites." My response has always been that "white is a perfectly good color." She gets mad about that for some reason.

Whites: with bleach and hot water unless the item is
shrinkable - then cold water.

Colors: No bleach or only color safe bleach, cold

Things that don't go in the dryer:
Jeans, sweaters, cotton that's not preshrunk.

Hope that helps.

I don't use chlorine bleach for that very reason.
Hydrogen peroxide based bleaches break down very
quickly to water.

what kind of jeans you talking about? only about one kind most of us wear, denim. You don't put them in the dryer?

I never put denim jeans in the dryer, they shrink and dry
all stiff. It probably is just a personal preference kind of

I don't do the wife's clothes but I do my own but it is simple. I have been wearin the same clothes since November so I just throw everything I have own in the washer about every 2 weeks. Coveralls, cap, and jacket go in too along with socks. Cup of this and a cup of that and then about half hour in dryer and I ready to go again. Been cleanin the horse stalls today so may have to shorten that 2 weeks up a bit. Mom told me that it wern't the wearin but the washin that wears out the clothes. With spring comein on I will make a trip to Goodwill to get me a more river friendly set of clothes for summer.

now there's a wise plan based on sound reasoning and you hubbys better pay attention :)

the reasoning goes something like this and tell me if i ain't right: "never do anything well that you don't want to do from then on."

pack that in yer hat and in your daily rounds, just watch how many wives explain that their husbands are such good cooks (housekeepers, errand boys, laundrers, discipliners, mailmen, snow shovelers, prescription deliverers, you name it) that they'd rather not get in the way. bingo, finally a way back out!

now use your newly-negotiated spare time to work on yer doghouse - lol

I'd say it's time for an experiment. Put the white, yellow & pink fluffy towels in a load with all of YOUR navy blue sweaters and see what happens! heeheehee Anybody know the Stock exchange id of the "Ronco roto lint buster"!!!

You're a good man Fern! Do you cook too?

Just got in a few minutes ago from Doc's office (see above). Have put my un whitened laundry in the drier. Taken My pills I rattle around inside until super packs in tight for the evening.

Now, when it comes to cooking I'm a genius over the camp fire. Used to get a kick out of kids telling their ma how good a cook I was. I never told her or them my secret. But, I'll share it with and the gate post. I used to get them kids so hungry, anything I cooked up tasted good to them. There were times I didn't find to bad to my own taste.

Ah. I did do Thaks giving a couple times. Blamed that on the kids.
