wondering does anyone here make there own homemade soap ? ive been making soap for some years now ..was wondering has anyone made soap with bear fat ? some hunters have saved me some after there season of hunting..wondering..do you render it jsut like you would beef tallow or lard..& if you use it does it have a smell?? also has anyone used deer fat to make soap with ??

And I dont beleve it matters what kind of lard you use wether it be pig, bear or whatever you have. I know some that use to save all there greese from cooking to make soap.

Can't answer your question, but have a funny story about homemade soap.

I thought a friend of mine with rough, wind tough skin could benefit from a gift basket of homemade soaps. Imagine my suprise when visiting, he pulled the basket out of the refrigerator, got out a lovely serving tray, arranged some crackers, and proceeded to "slice the cheese"!
