its funny how certian words bring back memories.
some very pleasant some noy so.words seem to roll off our tounge so easy without thinking no matter what memories it releases to other people.
a word was used in a lower post that as a youngster in the early forties brought back a bad memory. a word that we were punished to use but other people cpuld use freely we were of german desent and in school and even church the other people, especialy the kids, would call us
the word . my brother and i could handle ourselves but my sister could not. she took it hard we did not know why we were called something that we were so far away from and had no connection with. we asked our father for information he told never use the word and to do not fight for being called that. we were told to walk away i have not used the word at all. if people would think about each word they use. conversation would be shortened to what it is supposed to be. i'm sorry for jabbering

think i know it - as a fat german/finn schoolkid during the war, i was routinely called quite a few things so i kinda grew up by myself. even though i was from the midwest and my dad and grampa was too. i've never forgiven those people - never. not on favors, auction bids, job applications, loan requests, nuthin. i wouldn't fight with them or die for them. i am who i am and nothing can change that if i wanted to. they wanted an enemy and they got one. that's another case of making our choices.

Bob, you've got my curiosity going. I know I tend to say things from time to time without first thinking them through. In that regard, I hope I didn't post anything that offended you.
let me know if I did...........gfp

i don't know who said it and don't care it was just a general statement on my part but younger people use words that they probably don't realy know what they meant at the time they were first used.

in 1972, the docs had me on morphine for five days, saw my baby for the first time when he was 8 days old. Then they had to 'de-tox'[?] me for 10 days, those were some very wild days.:-)
Had eclampsia when I was 7 months pregnant and they had to perform a c-section after they had the condition controlled. Plus, had suffered a stroke 5 months before that, already pregnant.
Life goes on, but we have to help ourselfs.
Take Care Bob

words can bring back bad and good memories , its too bad they have to be the bad ones , but i like to remember some of the good times too, when i was a kid i got a job filling the pop machine at a local resturant, hung around with the owners son, and he worked the till all his free hours, so i was there most of the time, juke box played all the good music of the day, now when i hear one of those songs playing somewhere the memories come back to me, kinda makes you sad but at the same time you get to remember the way it was , and it was good back in the good ole 60,s.

Yeah toolman, I know what you mean, music will take you back to places and times you never thought about again. It triggers an old feeling, emotions, or a re-run of times long gone.
