Rare weekend

Jake was picked up Friday night by his freind Brandon and Brandon's uncle Andy. Andy is foreman of a ranch out in Auburndale and he was looking for young strong men to help him put up a corral. Jake had just been moping around, complaining he had nothing to do, so needless to say he packed a sack and hit the door running.

Jill was asked to go camping/hog hunting. She left to go to work at ten a.m. yesterday, and went straight to the campsite after work and didn't get home til noon today, a few minutes before Jake walked in the door.

Jenny had a friend spend the weekend and when they weren't out chasing baby pigs or overseeing the birth of Star's new kids, they were closed up in Jenny's room listening to CD's until we took Ashley home at ten this morning. So basically that means Fred and I had the house pretty much to ourselves from Friday night until this morning. How very dam weird. I could get used to that.

However, I paid the price for that peace and quiet today when they all surrounded me and started talking at once.

JAKE:... I made twenty five bucks helping with the corral but I only have two left...spent the whole time on horseback, and we went to Bubba's Mud Ranch Saturday night and I spent..
JILL: ...next thing I knew I was left out in the grove, all I could see was the jeep taking off down the row, and there I was with no light so the first thing I did was take off runnin' and slipped in a mud hole, landed on my butt...
JENNY:...and Ashley said that was the first time she ever saw a goat have babies and she wants to know if we'll call her next time so she can be here and her mom says I can come stay with them this weekend if....
JAKE:...it all on something to eat and admission but we ran into Daniel and I made the mistake of climbing up on his tool box when he went through the mud run...
JILL....and finally when I caught up with John and them he took one look at me and said I looked like a little old calf with a case of the scours and that's what they called me...
JENNY:...it's all right with you, they might be going to Busch Gardens and they said I could go along as a guest and they have a ticket for me to get in...
JAKE:...and by the time we came out the other side I was COVERED with mud from head to toe from the tires spinnin', and when we got back to the ranch, it was so cool out that we slept on the front porch til a raccoon came along and kept rattling the trash cans....no matter what we did we couldn't keep him run off.
JILL:....the whole time I was there. We didn't see anything but we had fun and I ate more last night than I have all week...why is it that hot dogs taste so much better when you cook them outside?
JENNY:...but I need to bring some money for food and souveneirs.

I just grinned at them. Within an hour they were all sprawled in different locations throughout the house snoring their heads off. None of them got a wink of sleep last night so they are all worn out, but guess what....the peace has returned. (grin)

Isn't that sad? It doesn;t happen that often, but it does happen.
