65% Dixie, can't understand it< I am Canadian. although my roots are U.S. based. I do find it easy to talk to a southerner. I don't find it easy to talk to a new yorker, a new englander, or an englishman. To me New Yorkers talk very fast almost sounds like a different language. Interesting comment below about soda, and sodey. My grandparents and parents pronounced extra, extry and I occasionly find myself diong this.

Willy-N    Posted 02-22-2004 at 18:34:22       [Reply]  [No Email]
51% Dixie?? What happen to the Great Northwest?? Are we not part of the USA anymore? Mark H.

Bob/Ont    Posted 02-22-2004 at 18:45:01       [Reply]  [Send Email]
Willy, haven't you heard. Wa, BC and Alta are starting a new country. You will have a King and his name is Ralph. He hangs out in the St Louis Hotel in Calgary.
Later Bob

59% (Dixie). Barely into the Dixie category.

In other words the part of our clan that lives in Texas changed me.

Grandpa    Posted 02-22-2004 at 17:26:29       [Reply]  [No Email]
60% Dixie. Texan all my life; all my ancestors back to the Revolutionary War were from the south. But when I got my kidney transplant it was from a man in Ohio. Suppose that made the difference? :-)

Ron,Ar    Posted 02-22-2004 at 16:37:34       [Reply]  [No Email]
I'm only 64% dixie, wonder which parts? and whats the other 36%? Well I did spend six months in Chicago area and 2 months in Philly.

Dieselrider    Posted 02-22-2004 at 16:50:55       [Reply]  [No Email]
Ron, If you spent two months in Philly just count yourself lucky you're still human. :) I think there is a line of people waiting to get out of Philly. Lol

BOSS    Posted 02-22-2004 at 16:21:02       [Reply]  [No Email]

forgot: Mine was 76% Dixie and i've only been
north of the Mason-Dixon ONCE about 35 yrs ago'
went up to Flint Mich. and back. Long enough
for 24% Yankee to rub off on me I guess LOL

Cindi    Posted 02-22-2004 at 14:14:02       [Reply]  [No Email]
77% Dixie. I'm not sure where I went yankee on the test but it must be my mother's influence. Besides I call them doodle bugs and that wasn't on there...neither was tinny shoes (grin)

Jessie    Posted 02-23-2004 at 02:03:32       [Reply]  [Send Email]
We called em doodle bugs too.

Dieselrider    Posted 02-22-2004 at 17:03:59       [Reply]  [No Email]
That just goes to show how we yankees are affecting ya. You'll soon be getting sleepy, very sleepy. Now Cindi when I clap my hands.... :) Lol

TO35    Posted 02-22-2004 at 14:13:52       [Reply]  [No Email]
94% Dixie......Don't tell me anybody had any doubts!

Donna from Mo    Posted 02-22-2004 at 13:58:35       [Reply]  [No Email]
55%... barely in the Dixie category. I'm almost scared to take these tests any more. I've claimed to be a Republican all my life, but a while back someone put a test on here to see how liberal you are, and turns out I've been a closet Democrat for all these years!

Dieselrider    Posted 02-22-2004 at 16:59:12       [Reply]  [No Email]
It's ok, there is still hope. Go dunk in the pond seven times and say a prayer each time. Don't forget the dab of ashes on your forhead, then stomp your foot seven times and each time say "I am not a democrat"!! Lol

Charles(Mo)    Posted 02-22-2004 at 14:18:58       [Reply]  [No Email]
Don't feel to bad Donna. I took the test and had a 55% also. Must be a Missouri thing. Although I was born in Detroit and lived there for the first 11 years, I guess I have adapted.

Around here a lot of people say "sodie" for soda.

Donna    Posted 02-22-2004 at 14:23:59       [Reply]  [No Email]
Cliff was born in Versailles, Mo; he says "sodie". I was raised saying "pop", so that's what I chose on the test; but I use the terms interchangably now, after 36 years of living with a real hillbilly.

~Lenore    Posted 02-22-2004 at 14:37:10       [Reply]  [No Email]
67% dixie

How in the world can pa-jam-ma rhyme with father?
I definitely dont say it like jam.
There were several that just did not fit me at all.

Juliana    Posted 02-22-2004 at 18:22:02       [Reply]  [Send Email]
79% Dixie, born in D.C. lived in New York, New Jersey, the South Pacific, Costa Rica, Chicago, Virginia Florida and now Tenn. No wonder I'm so mixed up! What the heck IS that bug that rolls up when it's touched? I never saw one.

Pitch    Posted 02-22-2004 at 15:36:40       [Reply]  [No Email]
29% definitive Yankee Lived here all my life stands to reason
