On the news this morning the showed a wolverine down by Bad Axe in the thumb area in Michigan .
Now Michigan is the Wolverine state but I guess they haven't seen one in the state for 200 years until this week . They are a mean little animal and aren't afraid of anything and always looking for a fight .

Sounds awful close to me. Maybe right off the NE corner of our Duck pond pasture. I think I'll extra hot wire that pasture's fence. he he.

I am just curious to know how it got here. It seems unlikely that they would travel this far. Wonder if someone took one as a baby and tried to raise it. Anyway, I hope the DNR gets it trapped and protected before someone tries to kill it.

There are very few things that Fred is afraid of but he still talks about a wolverine that he saw once when he was about ten years old. He said it was the most evil creature he had ever seen. Said it gave him the willies because it A)looked him right in the eye and B)seemed to would have just as soon ripped him to pieces as looked at him.

closest i ever got to a wolverine was buying a 350 carbine for elk hunting. laminated stock, thumb hole, nice gun. We set out to sight the thing in, holy smokes that thing kicked! Even got prone and it slid us back, Shot maybe 6 rounds altogether that day and we were bruised enough. luckily some dummy was whining for one so i sold it before season. we decided that was the ultimate weapon - it had the ability to kill anything in sight no matter which way it was pointed. wolverines are like that. :)

Sounds like a pretty good comparison to me and I can't think of anything I'd less like to have. Reminds me of a gun that we have in the gun cabinet. Some old shotgun that has been passed down for years and years. I saw it fired Christmas of 1986. My father-in-law loaded it, stuck the barrel through a loop in a chain link fence, got on his knees and leaned into the stock with all his weight (which is considerable) and still ended up five feet behind where he started sitting on his backside with a stunned expression on his face.

"Every time I fire this thing, which is about once every five years or so, I swear I'll never do it again, and then someone talks me into it." He said. He was sore for days. That's one of the reasons why it's in our gun safe and not his. (grin) Fred won't touch it.

Friend of mine (several years ago) bought a
new Winchester 300 Mag for big bame and talked
me into shooting it, NEVER AGAIN. shot it
one (1) time. was blue halfway down my arm
and side for a week. His friend had a 300 mag.
Weatherby, said it didn't kick like the Winchester but I declined to shoot it. LOL
Don't know why anyone wants a gun like that.

I don't know either. I don't get the attraction. I would spend too much time worrying about the recoil to be able to hit anything.
