in answering a post below, I gave myself an idea for today's poem. Since inspiration came from this board, I'll share the poem:

STUFF
copyright March 2, 2004
Donna Wood

If you wake in the morning and you have someone to love
And you know that you'll have food to eat, when push comes down to shove,
And you see that life and health and love are really quite enough...
Then you're a wealthy person: all the rest is only "stuff".

We struggle hard, and labor to acquire ourselves some toy
(And I'm thankful for the trinkets God allows us to enjoy).
But when cash is scarce as hens' teeth, and just paying bills is tough...
Priorities are different then; the toys are only "stuff".

I've been through lots of hard times, and on looking back I see
The challenge of surviving made a stronger, better me!
My fondest memories go back to years when times were rough:
I had the things that mattered; all the rest was merely "stuff".

At 23yrs I turned to loving stuff.
Loving a wife to death.
Loving to give a child away.

Donna, I'm sure grateful that you share your poetry with us. This one reminds me that we should be more grateful for the good, free things in life..........gfp
