yup there they go! My dad used to say "go get thr 30-40 and a shell" he'd flip up the ramp, try to allow for windage and crank off a round. usually they'd just keep pedaling but one time he got one and it dropped out by the mailbox. so we had roast goose once for sunday dinner. Prairie chicken now, we'd harvest one every thanksgiving. :)

we have been watching huge flocks of geese fly over for about two weeks now and at nite sometimes you can hear them flying over. My official sign of spring is the frogs and i heard them day before yesterday for the first time. WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!

Update from Chariton county. Redwing blackbirds friday evening, frogs saturday evening. Cardinals been waking me up in the morning for over a week now. Turkey vultures should be appearing soon.

Turkey vultures and red wing blackburds have been here for a few days.Cardinals and Wild Geese winter here. Turkey season isn't too far off.
Today we got the surest sign of spring. Flood warnings. 'Sposed to get 2-3" of rain in the next day or so. It doesn't flood up here in the hills, but it can make trying to go anywhere danged interesting. Sure is putting a crimp in my timber moving and cutting. Ah well, I guess a day or so off to hang out inside and sit by the fire is OK. It has warmed up, lows are only around 30, but now the humidity is 100%. Sure makes it feel cold, without that fire....
