I'm not sure if I'm one of your conservative liberals, or liberal conservatives, as I'm not sure what you first paragraph said!
However, if you were refering to me, I was just kinda pokin a little fun your way.
I guess I just can't imagine getting myself all worked up over 25 chix.
If I turned your crank, and upped your blood pressure, I really didn't mean to do it in a mean sort of way, but did mean to do it in a fun kinda way.
No way, would I side with your neighbors, however after it turned into a big battle, I'd have bid you goodbye, escorted you to the door, boxed up 25 of them puppies, and taken them back to the post office and told them, "Here ya are, ain't mine!"
With all the losses I've taken in farming in my life, there's no way I'm gonna get in a wizzin contest over 25 chix.
One thing that I have learned is, if I ever get in that predicament, I ain't callin nobody!!!
Still just to the right of Atilla, and still advocating the death penalty for folks that rattle my door, on day's I ain't in the mood!!(GRIN)
Ron, who's still wondering about my political leanings and moral values after your first paragraph!

Just the other day, we got a package...books (my wife devours books). Somehow, jammed up in there was a little package for some people that live about 40 miles south of us. It was batteries for an invisible dog fence. We called them up and told them what had happened, stuck the package back in the mailbox with a note to the rural carrier. No big deal.
Ron, can you give me a ping at the above address some time, please?

well steve , i been reading rather than posting these past couple of days, and i think you all should just join me in clippers cyber saloon for a drink and we can solve all the worlds problems while we,re at it and where the only mention of CHICKS would get us in trouble with our wives if they found out, welcome and nice to meet ya.

Boy, I just can't get over that chicken thing.

All the silly name calling, liberal, conservative, blah, blah, blah.

There is no need for labelling of class here, or name-calling. This was simply A BUSINESS TRANSACTION, the safe delivery of chicks TO THE RIGHT PERSON, and there is no need for any outpouring of emotion.

The Post Office is a business, a quasi-governmental agency, with a policy manual about 2 feet thick. THEY SCREWED UP, and presented ALL the chicks to be signed for by the "neighbor". I'm sure there are about 2500 regulations that are in place to prevent this from happening AT THE POST OFFICE, but IT DID, and that's where the fault lies.

Why is it so easy to blame the "neighbor", but yet HOLD THE PO BLAMELESS?

If I lost my cool and blamed the recipients everytime over the years that the PO has delivered my mail, personal and business, to the wrong address, and people have opened it, I would be angry at a lot of my neighbors.

Instead, I realize the PO is always going to make a certain number of mistakes, and don't hold a grudge against the employees there, AND I CERTAINLY HAVE NEVER BLAMED anyone for opening something the PO people placed in front of them, or in their mailbox!

Errr, Ummmm, Well, all I can say is you're just too darned countrified!
Why ya act like ya were raised on a farm or sompin!
Yep, and I must confess, I don't pay enough attention to my mail as I should. Our postmistress gets real lax with the distribution of mail, and now and then I'll get a call, from a neighbor saying hey I think I have one of your customers checks here, ya wanna eat today, or can you pick it up at the PO tomorrow? Iffin I were to get mad,, I'd have a bunch of ripped up checks to make litter with!
Later
Ron

Ron,

I was just surprised at the number of posts that seemed to side with opening someone elses mail. Might just be my upbringing.

Things never really got ugly when I went to visit them. She lost control but her husband and I a sense of civility thru it all and settled it when she left the room. I harbor no ill feelings against either of them.

As no one on this board really knows anything about me I will post a little bio about me later which may help others understand where I am coming from. Have been lurking for quite a while so I am at a little advantage there.

Doggone it, went out to get the mail and darned if I didn't look at it first to see if it was mine. And, it is all Steves fault. One more thing to have to think about from here on. DANG
REt who thought he was done thinking

Salmoneye    Posted 03-04-2004 at 10:06:00       [Reply]  [No Email]
We were brought up the same way Steve...

3 things you just do not do...

Touch someone elses wallet, Look in a Ladies' purse, or open someone elses mail...

Michael M    Posted 03-04-2004 at 18:10:33       [Reply]  [No Email]
YES!!!
I have been following this saga and that is exactly how I was raised. Started with my parents. You don't get in the wallet, the purse, or the mail. I won't even get into my wife's purse. I hand it to her to get out her whatever it is. And I am the same with the mail. If it doesn't have your name on it, ya just don't open it.
And yes, I look at the address too.

I always...well, MOSTLY..    Posted 03-04-2004 at 11:56:17       [Reply]  [No Email]

i have lots of pratice getting out of it here belive me , i done good this year only mowed down 3 trees and duct taped them all back together and only got caught for 1 so far but as the snow melts i might be in more trouble,i did the big apple tree in a couple years ago backed into it with the back blade , duct taped it back up packed snow around it, worked great, was sitting in the house , wife was out in the spring doing yard work heard a yell, followed by some #@#@#@# , here the duct tape let go and the tree fell over right in front of her, not a pretty sight , an angry wife headin fer ya waving a apple tree over her head , threaten to do major harm to ya.
