a week or so ago there was a discussion about
something you download to "clean up" your
computer. it deletes "cookies" (whatever that is)
mine has got to where I can read a post, press
BACK and go smoke a cig before it goes back to
the main forum. any help would be appriciated:

Gene....on your browser go to tools, internet options, then on the general tab you can delete
the cookies manually...
Then check the settings tab to see how much space your using for cookies....mine is at 55mb....but I have a real large Hard drive...

I'd say thats a bit much...I'd turn it down....can't hurt and you can always move it other thing that might make your pc slow is your connection speed...have you checked it?

If you have an Icon in the tray at the bottom for your intrenet provider just put your mouse over should say something like 28.kbs.....higher the number better you are...any thing lower than 24.kbs is reallllllll slow.....if you don't have the icon in the tray look on your desk top and then righ click and look at properties .....sometimes all you have to do is disconnect and then reconnect...alot depends on you phone lines too...

show speed in properties

also don't forget.....    Posted 03-05-2004 at 19:37:11       [Reply]  [No Email] might want to get you a spyware program thingie, to take off all the junk that collects on your hard drive from browsing. I use ad-aware 6.0

It's free you can just download it. the first time I ran it I found 89 removable items.

we set up our new computer in January. Ran that aware program yesterday and found 73 things on our hard drive that shouldn't be there. My son the computer guru brought it to us, but said that you can download it.

very true...    Posted 03-05-2004 at 19:43:11       [Reply]  [No Email]
