Sprinkler system problem

Have a 1 1/2 HP [2] line sprinkler pump.
It keeps losing its prime; Have installed a pump overhaul kit on pump, added an inline check valve.
It still loses its prime after a couple days. Is it possible I have a bad check valve, or must I pull the well point and replace the foot valve?
Any suggestions from some one who has experienced similiar problems woud be most apprerciated.

Foot valve was the problem on our pump.

I guess it's possible to have a leak inline.

My in-home sprinkler system is about 9 years old and it leaks in the living room area only when it pours down raining, when there is light rain it doesn't leak, could it be my gutters or maybe the sprinkler system?

I've made a fair chunk of change digging up wells for the local plumber so he can change foot valves. That'd be my first guess.
