Would we've had it made like Hank Jr. says?

Reading the New Money Eh thread.
I decided to throw something out that I have been thinking about for some time. Well actually years.

If the South would have won the Civil War. Would we be better off today?

I am not talking about Slavery.

But the over all condition of the country. Would the America of today be more productive in the ways of manufactoring jobs? What about the laws. Would killers be sent back on the street in a few years or hung high the way that such places as Texas likes them? Would Fla be over ran by Cubans? Would we have Walmarts selling Chinese junk be allowed in GA, NC or TN? Or Iraninans owning every Gas station in LA?

Just makes me wonder. What if?

If we had won, things would definitely be different. Who can say for sure what it would be like. I know we wouldn't have gotten our state flag taken away from us, and replaced by a dull blue flag. We would have at least been able to vote on it. I think a lot of southern traditions are going down the tubes, and I hate to see that.

Sir, Why yes Canada could join the Confederacy. If the South had won? I think they did but were starved into submission. That was their own fault as most agriculture was controlled by the rich. They should have planted food, as the Govenor of Georgia had requested instead of cotton, to feed the troops. Slavery was not an issue until Lincoln made it so. States rights and the overtaxation of agricultural products, embargos and tariffs were the cause. The north was strangling the South by these methods much as this country is being strangled right now with the tax situation. Would things be better. Well, there would be 2 countries but that probably wouldn't make any difference. I think it might be better. It very well could be.

Canada would have most likely joined the south as it wasn't a country on it's own just then and England traded with the south more than the north.
