is planning to purchase 168 acres of land to build a new high school complex. total cost for the project is expected to cost approximately 100 million dollars!!! my wife and me already pay slightly over 5000.00 in taxes on our 2.3 acres. i can't wait to move the heck away from this craziness!!!! (yuppieville usa)

My taxes just keep on going up, and for what I ask? At least you can see what they're sticking you for.

Far as I can figure, all they teach these kids here is how to cook meth and get knocked up before they graduate. Some of the more priveledged ones are apparently being coached on how to get sloppy drunk and drive their cars through my newly erected and endlessly repaired 9 strand barb wire fence every Friday night.

I have said it before but it merits saying again-school boards no longer serve the individual tax payer, the taxpayer serve them. Could write for ever on this subject. Most are interested in construction projects due to the fact that this is where the most opportunity for kickbacks and padding their pockets exist. Atheletic field do not improve academic achievement or cognitive abilities not at least in any direct proportion to the amount of revenue that is created. School boards have 2 things going for them-voter apathy and voter ignorance. Until the local communities desire a change in management and demand instructional quality, the status quo will exist-latin for the mess we are in.

they are closing schools like crazy where i live, actually all over our province but for some reason while they are closing schools in our nearby town down the road 20 miles they are planning on building a new one that we all get to pay for , makes you wonder why they have decling enrollment with the decision makers we have who are in charge of the students as well.

Schools.....
here in Houston they are talking about closing four schools because of low enrollment. Then in other areas of Houston they are "needing" to build more schools because of "overcrowding". This all at tax payer expense, while actual educating of students seems to be totally overlooked.

same thing here 90 schools closed in the province in the last 3 years or so, can,t bus students 20 miles down the road and take the saved money and buy some books or computers , that would make too much sense.

That's what is going on here too.Closing all the smaller schools and herding them all in to the "super schools" they call them.I say education was a lot better in the old 1,2 and 3 room schools which are now community centers.
