More Work for Less Pay

Did you know that Bush is pushing to incyour work week with no overtime pay? For somrease e reason this is not being publicized very much...hmmmm?....I wonder why? This issue will effect everyone. I knew that he was trying to pass it last year and it got stopped, now he is saying that he's going to do it anyway! It's obvious that this man has never had to work a day in his life. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing Bush or anybody else, but this is down right wrong! I know many people that overtime is part of their job...they work 9-10hr. days, plus 4 hrs. on Saturdays and anything over 40hrs is overtime, this is the way they make there money and it is the way their employer has set it up for them. If this bill passes, you can be made to work 48-60 hrs. per week with no overtime pay!! Employers will have people working more hours because they won't have to pay as much, etc. etc.
Less time for family, I could go on and on! There is no end to the effects this would have on the working person. There are petitions going around now to try to stop this nonsense and the following website has a place for you to voice yourself on there also.
Heres the web site to learn more for yourself;

I'm not really upset with this, I don't see the problem. For the last 30 years I have never received overtime pay, even though I work 60 to 70 hours per week.
The trucking industry has always been exempt from the overtime rules and no one could ever explain why.
Good luck to those of you affected, but I'd make plans just in case, this has been in the works for the last 15 years. Finally coming to light.

OH! I don't know Ron whare do you think a lot of people can come up with enough money to buy a hog of a half of beef or for that matter a lot of prodicks that farmers produce and people buy in quantity.

Its not that he wants to stop overtime pay, he wants to stop overtime. If an employee works say 10 hours a week overtime, and instead can only work 40 a week then someone will need to be hired to work the extra 10 hours. and when you do that to everybody, that is alot of new workers out in the market. So then you have less unemployment. I think alot of the business owners will like it. But it will turn us into a more socialistic society....just like everything else that is going on.
No wonder the oldest societies are so socialistic, they turned into them.

No Choices    Posted 03-20-2004 at 08:54:02       [Reply]  [No Email]
I already work 48-72 hours per week with no overtime under state law, and if this passes they can make me work an additional 24hrs per month for the same money!! Everyone will pay a price for this garabage! State and Local governments especially will use this to the max! Let alone private sector. And yeh, you're right, I'd almost rather go broke than to have John Querry as Prez. :^)
So much for them tax breaks, that is nothing but a joke, Bush gives me $600 and then I'm Licensed, permitted, fee'd, property taxed, etc. to death!

Give me a rotten choice!!!!

yep the Prez was on the news announcing his labor pay plans.

According to Mr Prez if we can keep the minimum wage where it is and employers don't have to pay overtime then we have more jobs created for Huhmurikins that want to work. With and incentive like that who wants to work anyway??

If Mr Prez thinks outsourcing is good for our economy then I imagine he thinks being put into the *working poor* is a workin man's dream come true.

Outrageous. What gives him the right? Thats a load of manure. My husband works 60 hours a week, and when he makes overtime, we are usually eating high on the hog. With no overtime, he would have to work himslef to death to make it up. WHich just isn't an option. I would have to get a job. THe public does not want me to get a job, believe me.

be like roosevelt said and have a chicken in the pot every sunday and you wont have to be high on the hog

Thats something I would worry about, overtime, something the president, any president has no control of.

But do a little research and see what the other guy's budget is gonna be. If you think he can accomplish his agenda by only taxing $200K plus "rich people", I got some beach front property in Wyoming for sell.

Heard that along time ago but would not comment on it because of being called a Bush basher, sides it will only affect the hourly not fhe salried they are exsempt if they are are there 1 hr they would get the same pay if they are there 12 hr.

Not necessarily, there are a lot of salaried employees that are paid overtime, most in supervisor's/managers positions. I myself fall into this situation. I have been watching this thing unfold for over a year now, first read about it in newspaper in Houston Nov 2002. So far we are still getting overtime pay. Many school employees and teachers get overtime in this manner here. I would like to keep my OT pay if possible but can get by without it. Of course I will just cut back my hours.

Les...OH DEAR!    Posted 03-20-2004 at 06:59:17       [Reply]  [No Email]
I guess the way to combat that situation is to go into that booth on election day and vote for "NONE OF THE ABOVE". That'll learn 'em to mess with MY overtime pay.
