We had 5 deer and 21 turkeys come out this morning. the deer were young ones, not afraid of anything. the turkeys were alittle more skittish. 5 toms and 16 hens. One giant Tom came walking by and 5 little toms ran up and chased him away. They wanted all those hens to themselves. My daughter and I sat up at the window for about 1/2 an hour just watching them. I am glad she thinks they are fun to watch. She's the one that woke me up to watch them. My wife just rolled over and went back to sleep.
Its so nice that spring has finally arived!!!

I read just last week that the Texas Wildlife Dept is considering opening Turkey hunting here in Liberty county for the first time in about 70 years. I saw three in the woods while squirrel hunting about 40 years ago and have never seen any in the wild since. About 15 years ago a guy I worked with and traded rids with picked up a tom that had been hit on the road and brought it home and nursed it back to health. It hung aroun for about a year or two and then took off. Beautiful bird. The next county south of us Chambers county is also considering Turkey Season. I did not know that they had any I thought the alligators ate them all. That county claims that the alligators out number the residents more than two to one and there are about 38 thousand people there. I see them when I am fishing or sometimes duck hunting. Have ran into some 12 to 13 footers and always gave them a wide berth. I dont think they are out yet but it has been warm the last few weeks so they may be laying up on the banks down by the river.

That's great, Vic.

What I think needs to be done is extend deer season here in LIberty county and increase the legal limit for each hunter.
Two people in my family of 10 have had accidents with deer. I almost hit two right here in the city limits.

The Enterprise rental man said 80% of his car rentals in Liberty County this year has been due to accidents involving deer! I think the deer season should be changed, lengthened.

And even tho we don't have a zoo in our state, the wildlife is awesome, what more can one ask for?
