I liked that little statisical comparison you did between Florida and Tennessee.

How about one between Florida and Massachusetts which is where *Northern safty* lives.

Sometimes land area and population make stats look impressive. ;-)

That explains it! My next door neighbor is always saying everything is better in "Massachusetts by God". Everyone in the area laughs at this.
Ok, so lets see what the stats are.

Mass. land area aprox 9,241 sq miles.
FL land area is aprox 54,157 sq miles.

Mass. population is aprox 6.4 million.
FL population is aprox 16 million.

Mass. crime index is aprox 3,094.2
FL crime index is aprox 5,420.6

District Of Columbia our nations capital still holds the record with an index of aprox 8,022.3

Well I guess I like living dangerously because in July we are taking a vacation to Washington D.C. on a airplane no less. This will be my daughters first plane ride.

I'd say those CRIME numbers look pretty close compared to all the other stats. Of course, I'm from Fla. though so you might need a recount! There's probably a hanging chad in there somewhere LOL! : )

Gotta laugh at those hanging chads.
Crime is everywear, people who understand that and prepare themselves are the safest no mater wear they live.
Those people who think there safe just because they live in a certain area are the ones in the most danger.

I'm visiting DC in June, myself, and going by airplane. I'm glad I'm not the only nutcase on here. And to make it even riskier, I'll be spending the week with a friend I met on the Internet! I like to live dangerously. (I've met her face to face several times already though)

I new a preacher who once said he visited a lot of peope on their death bed. Never did any body say they wished they had more time to work or more money, they always wished they would have lived life more. Taken chances and enjoyed everything.
I am a nurse and have held the hand of people as they passed away including my own Mother. I never forget to live for today and to teach my daughter to do the same. Life is too short to worry.
