What opperating system are you using on your pc?
I have ME now and just bought an upgrade to XP...also have a complete XP Home disc. My plan is to format and start over with XP home.
What do you use and do you have any problems?
Which browser do you use and why?

TO...I plan on upgrading tomorrow night so I might not be back on till Tuesday...

Suse Linux 9.0. It doesn't crash. It doesn't get viruses. It recognized all of my hardware the first time. (I have an Adaptec 1940UW SCSI card to run my scanner and CD-RW. The most used SCSI card in the world and winders 98se wouldn't recognize it.) The only problem I have with it is from people that send me microscum word .doc files that aren't formatted right and OpenOffice can't translate them.

For a browser I use either Opera or Mozilla. No pop-ups. No hijacks. Opera is almost infinitely customizable. For email I use PC-Pine. Which is so primitive it barely understands a straight text message. But I have been using computers since 1989 and I have had 3 non-fatal viruses, even though I've been sent just about every one out there.

I am still using 98, the final upgrade. Got it working great, and a lot of the new bugs don't affect it anymore. Of course, a lot of the new software won't work with it either. I am sure I will have to upgrade eventually.

yup, i use 98 too. i like bargains & there's no keeping up, considering the real cutting edge is 2 years ahead of what's on the market. same with cars or anything - i'd hate to leave her with payments. :)

I have win3.1, works good for me.
Just kidding, I'm running ME and I like it, no problems. I have XP at work, constantly having to install MS patches and updates.

Just curious...

What will XP do for YOU that ME doesn't?

I built two identical P4, 2.4 GHZ machines, one for myself and one for my 16-year-old son.

Mine has ME, his has XP Pro. Mine does everything I need, and gives less trouble.

I'm sure the need to upgrade will come along, but for now, ME is fine by me. That's why I'm curious, without trying to be a smart A$$, what you figure is the advantage to PRO, in your situation.

The reason I am upgrading is my cd/rw drive quit...bought another one much better and faster cannot get another like I had...but the software I have with the new drive is not compatable with ME they do not make drivers for it...Xp home edt. has the drivers built in. I have had Me since it came out and untill 6 weeks ago had no problems. My hardware is slowly going out 1 peice at a time so I'll up grade for now and plan on replacing the pc all together in a couple of months
