Well I had a lovely weekend. Spent all day Friday and Saturday plowing. Sunday went to he ll at precisely 7am. Thats when I hit the sink hole. Ever been just happily plowing along and suddenly come to a violent stop? I hit the mother of all sink holes. Never been there before and I dont know what caused it to be there now. I stepped from the cab onto the ground....straight out the door to the ground that is. Im 6'3" (bet yall didnt know they could stack bullsh!t that high) and the floor of the cab on my Steiger is higher than I am tall. That how deep it sunk...even with the cab floor. Took my neighbors 2 JD 9300's and my old 2470 to pull me out. I spent the rest of the day prying gumbo mud from under the tractor and out of the fender wells in hunks the size of car hoods. Despite that setback I did manage to get about 280 acres plowed this weekend. Only 67 acres more to plow for my rice allotment.

We had no idea the ground had tried to swallow you up!

Like Salmoneye said take pictures!!
I know at the moment it happened pictures was not a priority.
Glad you are OKay.

Lenore,
Moss Bluff is where I was born. I live in up in Liberty now. Moved 15 miles :) Farm is in Raywood area south of 90. The old Maxwell place if you know where thats at.

Oh they took pictures alright...only to post at the John Deere and American Rice offices so every one can give me grief about it. Ill see if they will send me a couple. I saw a couple and it looked like I was growing tractor cabs in that field as thats all you could see.

Around here we have to keep an eye on the gas drilling companies for creating sink holes. If they don't take the plastic out of the pits when they cover the pit, which they are supposed to remove, it makes an underground pond so to speak. A local farmer here was plowing along and hit one of those and the front of the tractor dissapears on him. He thought the front wheels had broke free, bet that was a thrill. Hope the rest of your year goes much better. Pics of that would be neat to see.

the "church" is the body of believers. Too many people associate the word church with a building. It is interesting to note that most Of Jesus's ministry took place outside out the walls of the temple.
