STILL CENTRE

STILL CENTRE

Centre of ceaseless flux,
The calm of wheeling universe,
the motion and rest in equipoise
the dancing Natraja, holds
the warring worlds.

Still Centre,
the gateway to no-mind,
beyond turbulence,
beyond suffering,
beyond the wheel.

Buddha
atop the vulture peak
on bondage and deliverance musing,
path blazer to a world
caught in darkening strait.

Nirvana’s light that annuls
bonds of samsara,
in bliss-light cruising
in ocean of Zen
beyond the eight-fold path.

Christ
kissing the cross
in the world’s thoroughfare
to atone for other’s sins,
for every man’s salvation.

Unheeded the sermon on the mount,
the revelation fallen on deaf ears,
glibly men mouthe shibboleths of peace
while preparing for the war.

Muhammad,
the God’s messenger of peace
standing betwixt clanging creeds
striving to end all dissensions
beyond all parochial darknesses of beliefs.

Sai of Shirdi,
the seer of Dwarka Mai,
God in man’s role
come to establish on our sphere
the sovereignty of one God.

Sage Madan
who twenty-nine births before
had his hermitage in the himalayas
beyond the Cow’s mouth
in a tapovani of Hemkund Mountains.

Having burnt the self’s dross in mystic fires
drinking deep from the nectar-fount
locked beneath the singing rock.
in thousand petals of sahasrar
absorbed ever in Sat-Chit-Anand.

Sankara
racing from cape comerin to mount Kailash
expounding the Advaita doctrine,
tearing asunder every shade of illusion
shrouding the unity of the one.

Ramanuja
prostrating in total self-surrender
at the feet of the Lord,
living the highest devotion,
the state of Prapaththi.

Madhwa
ravished by Krishna’s flute
singing in devotional strains
Kanha’s childhood sport,
the anodyne to all afflictions.

Eternal Gayatri,
sung by vedic sage
at creation’s dawn,
the Revelation of Revelation,
irradiating Light of Ecstasy.
