Is it somehow against any rules to carry a Zippo lighter of even a Bic type lighter onto an airplane. I haven't flown in quite some time and don't want the Zippo my gradson had engraved for me confiscated so I figured I take a bic but then got to thinkin that even they may not be allowed. Gosh thy may even take a fellows tobacco and knife in the checked luggage.

Guess the farm will keep me home. Having to giveup a pocket knife would be difcult. Have no idea how many times a day I use it. Just seems to be part of life's needed tools around here: opening bags, cutting twine, cleaning nails, poking abscess, eating apples. Don't know what I'd do?

The lighter will be ok, no knives allowed. Be sure when you go thru security to put the lighter in the dish to be ran through the scanner. If you leave it in your pocket it will set the thing off when you walk through and they'll have to scan you with the wand.

Yeah, sometimes it don't pay to fly, manicure sets, no no's too. Any metal items in purse, wallet or baggage. They say don't wrap gifts if going to visit folks, on plane, cause they will unwrap all........

I don't know if it is worth it, but if in driving distance, do that, or....stay home, safer and cheaper.
