Got the two girls new beds they have been using the sme twin beds that we got them as toddlers when they came out of the cribs. So any way at 15 and 16 it was tie to move them to more fitting quarters. So I loaded the old stuff into the truck and drove down the road to the TAX SUPPORTED town transfer station. They wanted $20.00 for each piece 2 boxspings 2 mattresses $80.00 bucks, so I told the guy No way I'll burn them. He say's "can't burning is illegal" I said "What is the fine for burning?" $25.00 I drove off with the bedding and I have a nice smokey air polluting fire going right now. Why do they have to make it so hard to do the right thing? I was perfectly willing to pay a reasonable charge for proper disposal but not 80 on top of what I already pay in taxes.

To answer the question, "where are the taxes going?";......The answer is MOSTLY TO WASTE.

Whatever you pay, it is NEVER enough, and they are NEVER happy.

Where do you live, Pitch? I just want to make sure I steer clear of that place. We are charged $3 for a car or small van load of trash. $5 for a pickup load and nothing for brush and grass clippings. I'd tell younse where I live but I'm afraid of an invasion of folks looking for a better place.........gfp

The officials tried THAT scam at our town transfer station last summer.....they wuz amazed at the number of mattress/box spring sets that made it over the front gate in the middle of the night! Didn't take em long to cancel the fees on stuff like that.... :^)

LOL!!! Too funny clipper :>) Here is what our township does. It works out pretty good. Every year they bring in a semi trailer. No fee to throw your stuff away. The truck leaves when it is full. You just have to make sure you get there bright and early.

Well that was what the townfolks proposed be done at our Transfer Station! The buffoons at the Town Hall decided they wanted to make $$ on the whole thing.Sooooooo now they don't make a cent and we don't pay fees on nothing else either.....course I gotta admit that a letter to the Town Hall threatning to use their parking lot fer a dump site mighta had sumpin to do wit them pulling their heads outta their collective a$$es on this here issue.... :^)
