Wander over to the bulletin board at reloadbench.com and post your question there. Very knowledgable bunch over there!

Don't know much about the .450, but I love my .444 marlin...one heck of a swamp gun...
I do have some firearms with and with out ported barrels, I have found the recoil to be slightly less that one than it not ported, as far as I can tell it has not effected accuracy at all.

happy shooting...

My experience with 'most' ported barrels is tha they are a heck of alot louder to the shooter than non-ported...

No personal experience with the .450 cartridge, but I do so love the Marlin Guide Guns...One in stainless in .45-70 would be about as much gun as anyone would ever need in North America...

The .444 does have a pretty dang good selection of bullets and is easier to 'load down' than the .45-70 though...

the noise was my main concern. i shoot with plugs and muffs, but while i am hunting......no protection. i hate to do any more hearing damage than i have already done,
i think a non-ported guide gun in SS chambered for the 444 would be a perfect daily carry gun for me.
we have started keeping a gun with us in the past couple of weeks as we have had 20 burgleries in 14 days within a 5 mile radius.guns a jewellery only
they come in between 7 am and 4 pm.
sure would hate to drive in on them unarmed
