Sunday School with Jimmy Carter

Cliff and I spent Easter Sunday with Jimmy Carter in Plains, Georgia. Never thought I'd be searched and scanned with a metal detector to go to church, but that's how it is. Cliff counted 10 secret service guys around church. We had our picture taken, with Jimmy and Ros... I'll post it when I'm home. This has been a very memorable day for me.

Sounds like a memorable time. Can't wait to see the pictures. :) Some people never get a chance to go out of their own state, so its nice. I know I love it when we go to Florida.

He really is a nice guy, probably to nice. I use to lease land from his neighbor to hunt on right next door to his boyhood farm. I have stopped by his brothers old gas station many a day and sat out front on the bench and ate boiled peanuts and drank cola's with Billy Carter, thats been a few years ago now.
I still go thru on ocassion as my daughters aunt lives with 2 miles of plains. It's a nice little Southern Town and worth the visit. While your in the neighbor hood you need to visit The Andersonville National Cemetery its only a short drive from Plains .

glad you got to see some of the old south...

We did see Billy's service station and visited Jimmy's boyhood home. Also the high school that's now a museum. My son is near Warm Springs, so last year we visited FDR's Little While House. We work something new in each year when we're here. I truly love Georgia in the spring.

Jimmy Carter is a good man no matter if he's alone and especially when he's out amongst folks.

I had the pleasure to meet Jimmy & Roz before he was the Prez. He is a very gracious man and his wife is just a pure sweetheart.

One good thing about him is his christian appearance aint just for reporters and TV crews. He truley walks the walk and talks the talk.

Anybody who will put up with having his picture taken with every guest at his church (and it sometimes amounts to 200 or more) has to be a great guy. We sat in the Sunday School class he teaches, and he did a fine job; Cliff only went to sleep once, for just a minute (a record for him), and even he said it was an interesting class. After church we went to Carter's boyhood home, and because we have read "An Hour Before Daylight", it was all familiar to us. Plains is out in the boonies, but if you are ever going through Georgia, it's worth your time to see all the things Plains has to offer.

I think I would enjoy swinging a hammer for humanity with him. I talk better with something in my hand.
I found him a real human being when before he had convinced Rosline to marry hime, he admitted to siting behind her in the local movie theater lusting after her. One help of an admition.
My case, I dreamed of a fair skined girl with dark hair and eyes for seven yrs. When I saw/found her, I knew who she would be. My Wife for life.
