I plan in getting a pickup rearend, swinging the driveshaft upright, shoving that thru the bottom of a barrel and attaching a lawnmower blade to the protruding driveshaft to make a towable mixer. (for making newspaper mush) Would the new position hurt the rearend?

(sorta like this)

Here another suggestion....remove the oil and pump it full of chassis lube...that ought to do the trick, I dont think it would hurt to reposition it anyway....

Hey DC, put the hitch to the top of the diff so you can put the wheels up a bit and the hitch vertical to check and fill the diff oil if you want to.

Shouldnt hurt it. I've done the same only I rotated it down, attached some home made blades to cut cactus down with. Put an offset tongue on it so it travelled to left of truck.
