I've tried 3 now - they're different but still good. Growing up i'd slice onion and cucumber on buttered bread.

Australia made a veggie sandwich that was mostly diced beets (beetroot) and real fine slivers of carrot. And just buttered bread.

Yesterday's local one was called a veggie melt - made with sauteed onion, bell pepper & a fried tomato slice with melted cheese served on a bun. Anybody had any other non-meat sandwiches. Besides peanut butter & jelly. :)

I have been vegatarian for almost 16 years now and I hve to say there are so many awesome veggie sandwiches. One of my favorites is taking one slice of thick wheat bread putting some butter and a little bit of garlic powder on it. Top it with spinach, tomato, mozz. cheese & a dash of basil on top. Broil in the oven until cheese is melted. It is great!

I have heard of people making a banana sandwich, me a sliced banana with mayo sounds gross. I will say I love a good garden tomato, sliced with salt and lots of pepper and mayo on a sandwich

Years ago I used to order a sandwich at a local restaurant in MT. It had a pretty thick slice of cream cheese, a thick slice of tomato, a thick slice of avocado, and sprouts. I can't remember if there was any dressing on the bread. I think the bread was sourdough, but my memory could be failing me.
