.....Computors
That darn cat Spook has developed a wild hair along her backside. Jealousy has reared its ugly head within her feline soul, wanting any attention we might have shown her kittens for herself. Selfishness in the animal kingdom?

This darn computer is giving me fits. Hate it more with each passing day. I literally want to trash it. A HP (Compaq)! Only 15 months old. Iíll never buy another one.
Open to suggestions. Gateway and Dell have ben suggested?

Got to do something. Canít back up. Canít make hard copies. Canít keep my mind much longer. I hate this junk!!!

This 5th attempt to post anything. Have lost four nonsense dissertations. Make it seven.

most computer problems are SOFTWARE and not HARDWARE in this day and age. if you don't have Anti-virus software GET IT. if you don't use Adaware GET IT. if you don't have a personal firewall GET ONE. as we stand here and converse you must remember we are standing on a street in the worst neigborhood of the worst city you can think off. loose women and pick pockets everywhere about us. burglars and prowlers walk by us in the thousands. con men and rip off artists ply their trades beside us. That is the internet and it gets worse every day. just becasue your surrounded by hills and cows while you sit at your PC all the afore mentioned people are waiting at the end of your phone line.

one last thing If your not using your PC and you have a cable or DSL modem TURN YOUR PC OFF. or some 13 year old kid in Asia will install software on it and use it for you. causing you to blame hardware that is most likely working fine.

Fern, I agree with Bob, my new computer {almost a year ago now come to think of it} came from a local guy who has made a business out of building and fixing them. But my first one did to, from another guy like that who wasn't as good as he thought. So if you go that route be careful of who you choose!

I just got a new computer myself. I had a Gateway for almost five years then it trashed on me. I had asked our computer tec here at work which he thought was the better of the two as I was looking at a Compaq and Dell. He said the Dell was definitely the better quality one so thats what i went with. So far Im very happy with it.

I suspect your computer problem is more software related than hardware related. Your computer probably picked up a "bug" along the way, and attempts to eliminate that have probably made WINDERS even more sick.

I don't know if you have complete "restore" disks, but sometimes things get to the point that wiping the harddrive clean and starting over will work wonders.

As far as one brand over the other, as you know, they all run MICROSHAFT software products, and to a large degree, are prone to the same quirks and failures.

Myself, I build my own "boxes", keeping them as lean and mean and fast as possible, and have had pretty good luck with a wide variety of motherboards and processors.

Any chance of finding a local, independant, computer "geek" who can straighten it out for you at a reasonable cost?
