My nephew Elie is a little over a week into his Appalachian Trail hike and he is out of Georgia and into North Carolina. Making about 15 to 20 miles a day. I'm getting regular updates from his girlfriend via his mother (my sister).

When he crosses I-81 and enters Wythe Co. virginia he will be about 30 miles from me and as he turns north east toward Big Walker mountain he will be nearer to me. He is going to see some of the most Beautiful land on Gods green earth. Wish him well and keep us posted on his progress.

I work in sight of Mount Katahdin, the north end of the trail. The mountain is covered with snow right now, and looks beautiful..By the time he gets here, it will be warm and lovely. Send the message that we're pullin for him.

Mountains here are snow covered today as well. This afternoon we went to Franconia. It's been almost a year since the Old Man fell.
By the time he gets there the mountain may be snow covered again.
