Sing to tune of: "Taps"
with reverence.

Day is done
gone the sun
from the Lakes
from the hills
from the sky
all is well
safely rest
God is neigh.

Fading light
Dims the sight,
And a star gems the sky,
Gleaming bright,
From afar,
Drawing nigh,
Falls the night.

Thanks and praise,
For our days,
Neath the sun,
Neath the stars,
Neath the sky,
As we go,
This we know,
God is nigh

I knew the first verse, but didn't know the others existed.

I have heard Taps played at two funerals where people close to me were laid to rest. I'm not a particularly emotional man, but under such circumstances, particularly when played by two trumpets in echo format, that simple tune reduces me to a blubbering baby.

I hope to have the honor of having it played over my grave when my time comes.

Clipper, if you're lurking, Thank You from someone who has some small inkling of what you and your family have given to our Country.
