4 am? Perfect! Take him along fishin once. The fresh air will be so much colder than bed, he'll still be playing possum when he's a teenager! Worst that can happen is he'll learn to fish.:)

Hard as it sounds...

You have to let them yell and go back to sleep on their own...

I am not talking about in the case of an upset tummy, or other 'real' need, but you said it yourself...

"our 2 year old who is developing the

of wanting mommy around 3-4 everyday"

This is something that the two of you are 'allowing' and ingraining by your actions...

Not meant as a scolding or know-it-all...Just what I found with ours...

While I can see your point Salmoneye I also say ya don't know what woke the child up either so it still needs to be checked out and then put them back to bed : ) Friends of mine had the same problem with their 4 year old son. The Father got mad and would start fussin and cussin and after the Mother went to check it out it was found there was a brown recluse spider in the childs bed. Sometimes it's better to check things out than wish you had and didn't. Just my 2 cents ; )

Awww...Don't take it personally, Daddies are good too, but NOTHING can take the place of Mommy to those lil ones ; )
