Sat down as I usually do and turned over to the news in this area. All our network stations come out of Washington DC, so we don't get a lot of coverage here. They cover N.Va, Part of Maryland and DC. First a recap of an 8 year old girl shot and killed while sitting in her aunts home last week by a so called stray bullet. Seems like they got the guy that done it and are figuring to arrest more. O yes, last weeks shooting in a Maryland school when 6 students were shot was also featured. A short story about a Maryland state trooper killed by a drunk driver while making a traffic stop two days ago. Another senseless act
Then to today's news. Girl was sexually assaulted in the hallway of a school this afternoon. The perpetrators also attended the school.
A teen had his hands chopped off by three boys wielding machettes in DC or Maryland. They sewed them back on but he lost four of his fingers in the process.
At noon in Alexandria ,Va a group of robbers wielding assault rifles and shotguns robbed a Chevy chase bank with shots being fired. They got away. What a state of affairs in this country, when the news is full of this kind of wanton acts of murder and mayhem. I am sure I missed some of what went on, but you all know what I mean. I sit here and wonder what it will be like in the near future. Not a pretty picture.

...I can't hardly listen to the news anymore. (dont' get broadcast TV...just do videos)

It's hard to know if they're reporting or making news.

So much of the news is parasitic and cold.

Hate it.

Stop watching the news. Write to the station and tell them why. This world live for the next extreme moment. Long term quality of life means nothing. Find some good people and make your own news. Better yet, stay tuned to this site for the Saturday Nite Hoedown. Its a hoot.

hey ret-
did you read that story about the farmer in caroline county that was killed by his rich lawyer neighbor? it was over fences, and a bull getting loose, and some poor manners, and big egos???
it was several weeks ago. in the washington post

O yeah, that was big news around here. What a couple of two damn fools, ought to be interesting to see how it comes out. The guy that was killed was 79 and the lawyer is 59. Feud went back 20 years or so over the lawyer billing all his surrounding neighbors for new fencing which according to an old Va law requires neighbors to pay for half a fence. Real expensive fence too, $45,000 worth

That type of law exists in many states......my half would have been one strand of razor wire. That law probably exists.....but the neighbor cannot tell you what your half will be built out of, at least not in Ohio.

yep- that was my take on it too.. egos in the way of good judgement.

still- why the heck is that law still on the books? i dont get it.

mostly i felt sorry for that old woman that got wiped out payin her share of that lawyers fence.
it aint right.

i wish i knew enough on how to post the article
here. it would generate some lively dicussion i think.

take care- mud
