there is still no positive proof of a connection between what happened on 9/11 and iraq. i had/have no problem with leveling afganistan, nuke the whole darn country, men, wimmen and kids. but even now bushy boy is looking for a way out of his mess in iraq.

Clipper, you should never use the words "Clinton" (or Slick Willy or whatever) and "shame" in the same post unless "shame" has "less" tacked onto it.

Clipper.....Oops!    Posted 05-17-2004 at 15:05:32       [Reply]  [No Email]

We have a lot of Quebec vehicle traffic on our roads here in NH. Nice folks and I like them. Today I saw an ordinary passenger car with Quebec plates with a "God Bless America" bumper sticker. That pleased me.

That was very touching Clipper. We have a few pictures hanging in our living room just to remind us each day. Thanks for a different kind of reminder. Thanks to you too Ennis.

The one picture that really gets to me is the one of the woman leaping to her death....a lot of folks did that from the Towers and that had to be a tough choice for them to make. And now the whining Lieburrals would have us cry in our beer over Iraqi prisoner treatment? I THINK NOT!!!

Melanie    Posted 05-17-2004 at 12:09:06       [Reply]  [No Email]
You know, of all the things from 9/11, that was the one that stayed with me, too... and the interview with a woman right after it happened, who said, "I ran out of the building, and I was one of the first ones out, and there was a lady lying dead on the pavement... I know she didn't come from inside with us, so I guess she just... fell out of the sky." She said it in such a dazed, childlike way, it made me just break down and bawl. Up to that point I hadn't really kind of accepted what had happened, but when I saw that, I knew it to be true and that America would be changed in ways large and small from then on. Hopefully as time goes by we can relax, but to me, vigilance and sticking together are still the most important thing for Americans to do. And if sticking together means not stirring up the pot by broadcasting inflammatory pics across the globe, then so by-God be it. Just my $0.02.....

Melanie, I agree with that statement. I just wish the media felt as patriotic as you do. Seems they don't think of the USA as OUR country. I feel the media is the enemy within.

It has been said that journalists are spies without a cause. I sometimes wonder.

Melanie    Posted 05-17-2004 at 12:38:24       [Reply]  [No Email]
Exactly. I mean, it would be one thing if I even thought the gov't had had a chance to do something about the problem before those pictures were made public, if ever... I know for a fact that the media withheld photos of other things in order to preserve "good taste"... Princess Di car crash pictures and all that... and when those got aired, the whole world freaked out, calling the station that aired them tasteless. But in this case, it's show, show, show- only stuff that makes the U.S. look bad. And in my opinion, the people that decided to air those photos are directly responsible for that poor kid being beheaded, and therefore are murderers.
I mean, I've done my share of complaining about my government- one of the beautiful things I love about my beautiful country is that I am allowed to have negative feelings about my government without being dragged off in the middle of the night- but never, not ever, would I threaten the security and safety of all our troops in a hostile situation by showing a one-sided perspective like that- all while saying how "I support the troops". Support, nothing- that's almost an act of terror itself, to me.

You go, girl!!
I agree, agree, agree!
I complain, too, and try to change things by voting accordingly.
I would never knowingly do anything to hurt our military or our country.
I love the USA as much as I love TEXAS.
I do not want our country to become a terrorist battleground,
so I respect and pray for our troops who are fighting there for us.

Patriotic media???    Posted 05-17-2004 at 12:31:53       [Reply]  [No Email]
That has not been the case in this country since the Lieburrals bought up all the major newspapers and TV networks.....:^(

guess it is gonna take    Posted 05-17-2004 at 14:07:16       [Reply]  [No Email]
some kind of attack in San Francisco and Chicago to wake up the rest of the country. New york is far away to most of the country , just rich stock brokers and the hated Yankee baseball team. So who cares about them on the east coast? AS long as the country is divided, we are going to have a real rough row to hoe. Shame it has to be this way. I still wish one of those planes had come down on congress, in session.

Bear in mind, geographic location does not always dictate political leanings. You've seen my point of view, and I'm from Portland, Oregon. And I know many other folks around here who feel just the same. I'm prone to generalizations, myself, but it's good to be cautious anyhow- those terrorists also generalized, and killed thousands of innocent New Yorkers based on the assumption that Americans are the representatives of the world's evils. Not to say "anybody that generalizes is a terrorist," but it's worth keeping perspective on things like the West Coast and Liberalism and whatall, otherwise I'll be tagged as a liberal just based on where I live, and that's not okay with me. :)

AMEN to that REt.....It would not be a big loss to suddenly lose all the buffoons that are now in Congress....If we could start over again I surely would not let elected office be a career for these term and yer life-long pension with full paid medical/dental either. Let em hump it fer their SS like the rest of us have to do.

...picked up Ann Coulter's "Slander: the Lies about the American Right" the other I was buying it, the mom behind me piped up, "Good book! I liked her previous one, too..."Treason.""

I haven't made it through "Slander" yet, but so far it's pretty eye-opening about the slant of the media.

Woman at work asked me if I thought the media was biased, and I responed w/"oh yeah!" She didn't agree.

The book is helping me understand what i went through my first year or so here at work...some attitudes of some libs against conservatives and Christians.

I get along w/most now. Several strong-socialists here. We do get into some brief interesting conversations, for the most part, the conversations are civil.

I posted this elsewhere, but it fits in this topic, as well:
There needs to be some kind of reassessment of the things the people on teevee and radio are getting away with, that's for darn sure.... some rockhead over here in Portland got his sorry behind thrown off the radio after making a class-A mis-take.... he was a big cheese here in town, a celebrity DJ, with his own show, mostly gross-out gags and belching and what-all... not my bag, but whatever, was what I thought of him... then they actually aired the audio of that poor boy being beheaded and made jokes and crappy comments about it... next thing I know, I'm flipping through the stations and hear he got thrown off the air.... HURRAH!!!!!! Good riddance. Pissant.
