What has happened to the greatest nation on Earth? Corrupt politicians (I know nothing new), kids out of control with no consequences, rampant immorality, abortion on demand, me first; too bad for you. Everywhere I look, society is decaying. Can it be much longer before this country falls?

My family and I made the choice years ago to move away from the evils of the city. We live on our own land and our town only has <5000 people. There is nothing wrong with our great country. People must not allow the liberal media to corrupt their minds. The Klinton years really showed us that some people in our country want only to control us and tell us how to live, what type of weapon we should own and how our children should be raised.
Keep your good morals and teach your children well and things should turn around soon.

Although I strongly agree that we have problems, look around, then ask what is right with this country, and I guarantee that your paragraph will be much longer.

I 've been a Chicago police officer for twenty years. Always worked the so called. "ghetto areas". Have asked myself the same question many times. Yes there are a lot of bad people in this world. Yes there is a lot of evil. I've seen things you would not think possible. What continues to astound me is who is making all the calls? Even in the so called, ghetto areas, someone cares enough to call the police and get those people off that corner. That little old lady always seems to be looking out the window when the car is being stolen. I'm here to tell you that there are a lot more good people than bad, with a minority that terroizes the majority. I echo many of the other comments, bad news just sells more newspapers. Don't give up, you are not alone, in fact you are in the majority.

In my humble opinion, Lack of recognition and appreciation of God. When it comes right down to it, that covers all arguements for and against, good and bad of our country and this world. JMHO

I agree also, and I may add: There are a few good folks, but all it takes is one bad person to make it look like all it rotten, America looks to have been lulled into an it's alright if it feels good do it stuper, and it has a stintch about it.

I agree Sammie. We have kicked God out of our lives, our schools, our thoughts, and our conscious. But yet oddly, we ask for his blessing. God is not mocked, what we sow, so shall we reap.

Just wanted to clear something up. I didn't move to the country to 'escape' the world. I decided to lead by example. I am registered to vote, and I believe that the 10 commandments should be returned to the schools. If we don't teach our children what is right, how can we expect them to know.
I still hold with the saying, 'If you don't love this country, get yer butt out, and make room for someone that will appreciate it.'
I do believe there are far more good people in this country than there are idiots, it's just that the idiots get all the press.

I understand what you are saying but since Sept 11 I have seen change in the way our local media is doing things!! Great to see too. They are spending more time on what they call "Human interest stories" News is the bad things but "Human interest" is the good things!!! lol There has also been alot of recognition for the people and volunteers who work Ground Zero and emphasis on the GOOD things that have come out of it like NYers coming together when they had a reputation for being cold. I hope the change continues. It reminds me of Ann Murrays song "Good News". I guess if that isn't enough, you just have to look past the media at your own neighbors to see the good.

Trying to cure the ills of the world, a physician should try to heel itself first.

Not to mention isreal, this is a baby all growd' up now with it's own big stick to swing, nuclear weapons, so why does it need US backing.?

All the money spent fighting conflicts all
over the world without seeing if your own door is locked sends a message, evidence Sept 11. Reel in the policing policy, (frankly the world isn't impressed), and build up home defences before it's too late. Fort Apache USA, and we better do it quick.

Terry, They are the only ones you hear about,
stories about good people don't sell as many news papers.

I still believe this is the greatest country on earth, and one of the reasons is what we are doing right here. Discussing it in public. With every breath, what do you feel?

Read this story, and then tell me what you think?

We all could pull up tragic events, and stupid people. Woman in Tx who drown her children, etc.

300+ firefighters/police who gave their lives for someone else.

Having spent 20+yrs in the military(and the board has several vets), I can give you the names of several third world countries. Yes I know America is not perfect, but I still have faith in the American People doing the right thing day in/day out with no recognition,(and not expecting any)

I read that news article and it broke my heart. The fact that she was a nurse's aid had little to do with it. Just one human being having total disregard for another human life is what got me.
It is proof that drugs and alcohol distroy life.
This country is far too lenient when it comes to the offender, the 'private user'. It is time to put a stop to the "Oh well, everybody does it" attitude.
I moved to the country to get away from the Yuppy Mentality that casual use doesn't hurt anyone. Tell that to the innocent victims.
We could debate this till the cows come home, so my final thought is, this is a great country, but, it's time she took the blinders off and see what is really going on in her own backyard and stop worrying so much about the rest of the world and trying to tell them how to live.
