regarding all the comments about them foreign folks taking over i have one question, to wit, why do the "white folks" flee so easily?????

KellyGa    Posted 05-25-2004 at 18:40:28       [Reply]  [No Email]
Oh, and how about their kids not having any respect for your property???? They come wandering up into my yard and stick their little pickininny heads into my daughters pool, they come up to the side of the house and start poking and messing with my animals, they have no boundaries, they just do whatever they want to. YOu have to put up a 10 foot tall fence and flood lights and have a pack of wolves out front anymore. Always mouthing off at you. Ian pulled into OUR driveway one day, as thesepunks sauntered by, and they started mouthing off at Ian, said he tried to HIT them with the car, phhhht, Ian went after them and told them they better get on out of here or he was going to end up in jail, cause he was gonna beat their little @sses! The cops came, I called them, they were talked to, Ian told them when they get a license plate on them sneakers, then they could say something, that the street was for cars!

Oh and let me tell you about the 30 something black teens that wait at the end of our street for the bus, they refuse to get out of the way until you practically nudge them with your vehicle, defient smart allecky, UUUHHHHHHHHGGGGHHH!!!!

Is this satire?    Posted 05-26-2004 at 05:42:29       [Reply]  [Send Email]
Gosh I certainly hope so. Otherwise is this conversation
in earnest discussing the downfall of white society
caused by interlopers of color? I mean, do you guys
really think race is an indicator of criminal tendency? I
haven't actually seen the word 'pikanniny' in anything in
print less than 50yrs old?

Are you people for real?

Just wondering?

Clipper    Posted 05-26-2004 at 06:19:07       [Reply]  [No Email]
Prolly more truth than satire.....why are folks fleeing the cities and moving to the country? I don't think they are doing that to get away from city roosters.....

Paula    Posted 05-26-2004 at 06:56:59       [Reply]  [Send Email]
So Clipper you are saying that you believe that race
predicts predeliction to crime and bad behaviour?

Clipper    Posted 05-26-2004 at 07:13:43       [Reply]  [No Email]
Don't try baiting me Paula....I know most college educated folks are book smart but also life stupid. I won't argue with stupid.

Paula    Posted 05-26-2004 at 07:17:35       [Reply]  [Send Email]
I'm not trying to bait you. I'm a little alarmed by the tone
of this thread and I don't want to assume anything.
That's why I'm asking you point blank whether you think
brown people are more criminally oriented than white
people. I mean, I can go with my assumption and say I
had no idea how racist you guys were, but then I would
be drawing conclusions without facts.

Melanie    Posted 05-26-2004 at 11:50:40       [Reply]  [No Email]
Well, my kids are brown people... my husband's brown... my MIL is brown... they all descend from Spanish-Indian Mestizo people in the Arizona-Colorado-New Mexico area.
I wouldn't use the word "pickaninny", it isn't in my vocab, but I do understand the frustration. Until you have seen culture clashes of the kind Kelly is referring to, don't cast judgments. And don't say "you people" if you're talking to one. If you're point-blank, address the person you're upset with point-blank. Don't throw us all under a group heading if you're accusing us of throwing others under one. That's hypocrisy. And also we have Kim as our moral moderator; freedom of thought and the ability to safely vent feelings (which aren't always logical) is one of the good things about Internet forums. Being called racist by a person who would most likely feel the exact same way if placed in a comparable situation is intolerable. Until you know more, don't cast stones.

Paula, There is good and bad in EVERY RACE. I'm not prejudiced against folks because of the color of their skin or their ethnic background. I'm prejudiced against ATTITUDE. You hear on the news to give to the United Negro College Fund but along those same lines if someone advertised for The White Kids College Fund then the NAACP would keep you in court for the rest of your life. My coworker on the bus is black. She's 63 and has been like a 2nd Mother to me. We get along JUST FINE. She will speak out against this kind of stuff before I will because I know if I do I'll be labeled as prejudiced. Her GreatGreat Grandmother WAS a slave, but she herself says that nobody alive today ever owned a slave and doesn't owe her a dime. This kinda stuff just struck a nerve with me and I had to throw my two cents in here. I guess what I'm trying to say is I don't care who or what someone is as long as they are not causing me or mine any harm. There's only 3 things I can't stand and that's a liar and a thief or someone who harms others. That could be by a verbal attack or a physical one. If someone is niether of those then I don't have a problem with them. Have a good day : )

"I guess what I'm trying to say is I don't care who or what

Fair enough. You realize that all black people don't
share the same political rhetoric right? LOL.

I realize that some folks in this world will NEVER do an honest days work and will steal from someone who does and those are the kind of people this world can do without. Whatever the color of their skin or ethnic background. And in the words of Forrest Gump: That's all I have to say about that.

KellyGa    Posted 05-25-2004 at 18:31:59       [Reply]  [No Email]
Let me add to that Melanie! How about this? I have had my car stolen, I have had it broken into, I have had over a thousand dollars worth of tools stolen out from under out carport, and I know it was a black guy because the neighbors saw him walk off with it all! They didn't realize at the time he had just came out of our driveway! OH, and how about your husband going to his soccer game and getting shot at by two teenage punks and having the car window shot out while you drive down the road??? Never seems to be a white guy doing all this to us!!!!!!! How about last year, when it took three weeks for this black girls mother to finally show her butt up to the school concerning her daughters behavior towards my daughter??? My daughter was stolen from, bullied, and intimidated verbally by this girl!!!! How about walking out to the mall parking lot and having the girl in the car next to yours start cussing you out and threatening to beat your @ss because she thinks we dented her pimp mobile??? With your parents with you to boot! How about them coming up to me in the Capn D's parking lot wanting something, who knows what, tapping on my window, preying on a woman by herself, toting a big umbrella to smack me in the head with, or poke my eye out with as soon as I roll down the window, and yes, the drug activity is heavy around there, and yes, he was strung out. AND THATS JUST OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD!!!!! Until you have lived it, don't be asking me why I want to move from Clayton County, go look up the crime statistics, and that will tell you WHY!!!!!!!! Now I am all riled up, got to go calm down.

Bottom line is, we leave because we don't want to be around all the trash, crime and crap that is filtering down from the next county over, and let me tell you this, Henry County used to never be in the local news, now that they are moving in, the county is in the news, an we all know the news is all mostly bad stuff happening.

Oh and wait, there is my sister, that lives in Columbus, Ga. SHe lives across the street from a park, and has to listen to the foul mouths, the basketball at 2 am in the morning, the crashing of beer bottles, etc, etc....

Melanie    Posted 05-25-2004 at 17:12:17       [Reply]  [No Email]
Well, let's discuss that, okay? I live in the "black" side of town where I am... let me tell you, if you can tolerate the banging music into the small hours of the night, the nightly sound of gunfire within blocks of your home, one or two dead bodies found in your kid's school park every year, cars blocking up the road while people sit and visit with their buddies, constant looks of hatred and resentment (I never beat up a black/Hispanic/Asian person for fun, I never owned a slave, wanted to, or hated anybody based on what they looked like but I have been raised by a liberal school system to feel guilty for it anyway; I'm a blue-eyed blonde, so I represent the "bad guy" to them, even at 125 pounds sopping wet), your car getting prowled once a month, being cut in front of in grocery lines on general principle, bums and freaks wandering onto your porch for handouts (somebody stole our cordless phone off the porch last year; what good it could have done them I don't know with our long distance turned off, and the base unplugged as soon as it was gone), well then you can wait it out for the cycle to come around, for the *&%$ teenagers to grow up and move out of the gang house down the street, and for civilized folks of all colors to move back in, like I did for this last ten years. But a lot of folks don't have to, don't need to, and don't want to, and I think that's absolutely fair. It ain't fun, it ain't pretty, and it ain't necessary. Accommodation should be made on both sides, and "racism" isn't the correct implication here. "Being taken advantage of" is.

When them Indians saw the first sailing ship, they said, "There goes the neighborhood".

I don't have answers, just ideas. I think it has to do with the way we all live today. Respect for the community and all who are in it is gone. Personal rights have taken the place of society's need for order. The whole, society, has been sacrificed for the individual. We have forgotten that people cannot live alone, but need a society. The problem rests on the fact that people no longer have an ordered society to live in.
We are very close to anarchy, simply because society has been so badly weakened. The loss of order is what happened in Iraq. Plain and simple. We are trying to re-establish order so that society can renew itself without order being maintained by men with guns.
What has happened there will surely happen here as society weakens. Keeping society alive and well has become the main role of rural America. We in the country still care, still share, still love one another, still look out for each other, still maintain community, even if its at Wal-mart, and still show respect for our societal institutions.
Rural America is where its at. More and more people are finding their way here in search of what we have. It is OUR DUTY to see they are welcomed, taught, and shown respect. I know, I know, there are monkeys coming here also, but the majority who come are looking for something. Lets help them find it.

Remember, the best way to learn is to teach. As we teach we will gain greater respect and love for the life in the country.
