Raining up here in the North Country. I was driving home and there was a guy hitching a ride. Beat up hat, jacket and boots. Perfect candidate for a ride. So, I stopped. When I asked him how far he was going, he said, "Oh, about halfway up the road".

Ya gotta love an expression like that.

P.S. The road goes for many miles. He was going about one and a half.

around here it's *Ahm headed rat ovuh yonduh, up yonduh, or -on down yonduh

if we don't give a hitch hiker a ride then the terrorist hitch hikers have won. We have to go about our bizness as usual and pickup hitch hikers.

I hitch hiked all over the US in the 60's before somebody said it was dangerous. If ye hitched you could cash out yer travel pay from Uncle Shug and stimulate the economy better.(or at least more fun)
