Nascar's demise

We used to watch car races and thoroughly enjoyed them. but the commercial world has smothered them. When now a car goes by, all you see are blurry commercials - couldn't even tell what kinda car it was even if i did know. And that changing-hats routine the winners are required to do. Just once, if a millionnaire doesn't really like milk, i'd like to see him have the gonads to plunk a hat on that said "Keep yer milk - make mine a beer thanks" and punch the idiots who try to take it off. If i wanna watch unmitigated wall-climbing greed, i can see that kinda action at any slop trough. :)

The only way racing can continue is through sponsorship and advertising. This was the way it was when I raced in Fla. I had a local bodyshop as my sponsor and boy did I need it.

I just sit back and enjoy the races.

PS: I don't buy t-shirts, hats, etc with a company name on them as I feel if I was advertising a product I should be paid for that job. In fact when I bought my last new truck I didn't let the dealer put their name on it anywhere unless they were willing to pay me. They weren't willing, imagine that.

That should read "the only way nascar can continue IN IT'S PRESENT FORM is through sponsorship...". I understand your position but stock car racing in it's pure form has gone the way of the dinosaur, replaced by a rich mans hobby:^(

I dont watch that nascar thing unless I am visiting someone who is watching. But I noticed a few weeks ago that the camera comes by the winner or top three to ask questions. The driver drinks bottles of liquids and they make sure the brand is showing. The TV camera makes sure that they film this act and get the brand on TV.This is another reason I dont watch TV.

i no longer watch them either, i still enjoy the funny cars and rails but when they interview the winners and they spend 90% of their talk time naming their sponsers i flip the channel, still lots of fun at the small time dirt tracks though and the home built race cars, guys put alot of work into them and go out have fun and they get pretty competive still. if you get the chance go out and watch them only cost a couple of bucks and you,ll have a good days fun.
