Last I heard a couple of days ago, my nephew was at/near Pearisburg, VA. He's walked over 600 miles so far which is close to 1/3 of the way.
At some point his girlfriend is going to fly down and meet him somewhere. I'm guessing he might take a couple days off for that ";^)

I dont understand? I have waked maybe 50 miles backwards trying to get a ride but I was only trying to get to where I was going faster..Why would your nephew set out walking anyhow?Did you kick him out of the house?

Thousands of people have walked the AT "because it is there". Nephew Elie is one of them. He's 27, single, has plenty of money from working and saving. Why not?

It's certainly an adventure that one could have "on the cheap". Where else you gonna have that kinda fun for that long of a time for practically no cost?

I remember long ago on a trip to California there was a cold spell in Las Vegas,By the time I got that far hitchikin rides I had a big hole in one shoe.I saw a beer carton blowing in the wind and chased it down for my shoe.My pal laughed.I did too.Funny how things can be funny at times like that.
