I asked this one before but I hope that someone knows the steps to go directly to my control box in XP Home edition.Samoneye also thinks there is a check box to set my modem to kick off when the phone rings.I dont want to pay for call waiting here. I just want the phone to ring and kick me offline as I seldom get a call here at this line.If anyone knows the steps to that check box (IF it has one) Let me know. Salmoneye says it is likely in the section call PROTOCOL..I will attempt to go there. But I hear the shop phone ringing which may mean I have a call now.<>

Hello Clod

Let's see if this works..

Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections

Now on the left hand menu chose Phone and Modem Options > Dialing Rules > Edit
Now click on General tab and Edit Location.

See if Call Waiting is disabled, you probably need to enable it to interrupt the current connection to the Internet at an incomming call.

Let me know if it worked
Take Care

Thanks for the info on this Patria and I am happy to see you are still here.I was away awhile. The thing I have here is that I do not have call waiting.Because I get very few calls at this number I hoped to only set the PC to jump off line when a call came. But after looking through all those blocks I have decided the feature is not available on XP.I had set up a WEBTV made by Microsoft some years back and it had a kick odd block to check and it worked.Oh well..I can hear the phone at the shop then do a hundred yard dash if I think it might be an invitation to A soup line,,Ha ha..No I am cooking food on the grillo out therre Patria. Got a big ole watermelon here to eat .Its sunny out there too.It is a wonderful day today.

Geeezzz Clod, these tech stuff are getting harder and harder to understand, but it's good, in a way. That means somebody will make a living fixing them for you...:-(

Great to see you're back.:-)

I never hire things done Patria. I go learn for myself by breaking things>That is the way I get my education. If you have a Windows operating system You might be interested in the free disk from Microsoft. No money is needed, even shipping is free.I just put in my order .These are fixes for Windows.98SE and up to my XP .More EX fixes are expected in the middle of the year. Most of these fixes are secuity patches to keep virus and spyware out . Though it is Windows ,I found the address in PCWORLD mag.It just sends you to Microsoft <> <>You can copy that and po it in the browser to get to Microsoft .They do ask a lot of questions in thje blocks .Like PH number Address and few other things.
