Just wanted to let you know, I got an Akita yesterday for my hubby! She is 9 weeks old and oh my! such a sweetie!! He named her Zoe.. (a name I have wanted to use for a girl for us, but he didn't like it, but thought as a dog, it made a nice name!LOL)
We have only had her 2 days now, but she has gone potty outside and has only peed once in the house! I hope that continues...?!?!? This is the first puppy we have ever had, so we are learning as we go!
I did get a book on puppies and training dogs, so that will be useful to us!
If you have any tips or advice, send them my way!
Thanks again for your post on Akitas last week!

so welcome....I love the fer wetting in the house...after say 7pm at night only offer ice cubes 3 at a time and make sure to let her out before ya retire fer the night.....iffin ya can soak some of the pee up on a napkin...take the napkin outside throw it in the grass, ground and make her smell it...give her a big ole session of loving as she smells this and tell her good gal...this also works fer poo...many folks cage train animals....I dont agree with this method...I believe that an animal kept in a crate, cage is not as social as a pet trained with a firm hand and time....just remember with the akita breed ya must be firm with her at all times and dont allow her on the furniture...if ya do ya will regret it come spring when she sheds...keep in touch...and good luck...dale anne
