just a quick good morning and it's off to feed the critters. I had hoped to work in the garden but it has rained some every day for the last week and it's just too muddy to do much. Guess i'll make a batch of spagetti sauce and some meatballs and sausage for the freezer. that should keep me busy ,maybe a couple loaves of beer bread.Stop by later to see what you are all up too.

Sounds like my house when I get sick. Nobody lifts a finger. Then when you feel better, you have a mountainous job ahead of you! Makes you wonder what they would do without you!

i just like having stuff ready case we get unexpected guests. i bet i could feed 300 people out of my freezers right now. i have stuffed cabbage, kale soup, chicken parmigan, lasagna, stuffed chicken breasts, cod florentine, french meat pie, and veal parmigian. not to mention the chickens, beef, and pork to be cooked. I like to be prepared and sometimes i like to take it easy so if i've had a really long day outside everybody gets a good meal and i don't have to fuss. besides around here you never know who'll end up at the table ,if they stop to help or visit and it's time to eat I'm feeding 'em and I really enjoy it espec. the "good ole boys" who will try anything[ being a northerner by birth I tend to cook things they aren't used too] but one sniff and watch out the sparks from the silverware start flying. I truly love to see a man enjoy his food and i love it when they ask for seconds or thirds. I guess i'm a little weird, huh?

Same here. SWMBO makes two loaves, first one never gets to cool off.

I'd appreciate the recipe when ya get a minute. Allus lookin' for new treats.

posted the beer bread on the recipe page. when i looked at it i noticed something it should say 12 ounces of beer and if you look quick it looks like 120 but it is 12 ounces of any beer . If you change beers you get a slightly different taste. One of the boys left a dark english beer here and i used that and it had a molassass-like taste and a darker color.this bread is easy and quick .ENJOY!

Fawteen    Posted 06-02-2004 at 06:05:45       [Reply]  [No Email]
Thanks, Donna. I printed that out, and will see if I can sweet-talk SWMBO into baking me up a loaf or three...
