Reading about Submarines...

Reading about subs on here made me think of my Dad and the sub he built for himself. Thought I'd share a picture.

Clipper    Posted 06-07-2004 at 19:39:06       [Reply]  [No Email]
I admire his handiwork but I'm used ta going to sea on bigger subs than that.....we could stuff that little rascal right into one of our torpedo tubes!
What did he install fer a Weapons System?

thelma    Posted 06-07-2004 at 19:41:48       [Reply]  [No Email]
LOL, he likes to cruise around Lake Tahoe, just under the surface, so he can 'surprise' people. I'll ask about the weapons systems. :)

With a couple of phone calls I could prolly hook him up with a very nice MK45....minus the nuclear warhead....but still enuff to sink Martha Stewarts yacht!!! :^)

thelma    Posted 06-07-2004 at 19:47:41       [Reply]  [No Email]
Good grief, let's not even tempt him with THAT!!! When he still lived here, he bought a .223 just for woodchucks, lol!
Although.... if he had that MK45, then I would inherit that too...

Ask him if he wants a waterproofed 5 inch deck gun while yer at it....if he's gonna shake up the neighborhood might as well do it right!!!:^)

Is he a Beetles fan or just likes yeller????

That looks kindy like the one Clipper and Rajah use fer a fishing boat.

thelma    Posted 06-07-2004 at 19:39:48       [Reply]  [No Email]
Ummm, ya know, I never did figure out the reason for the color. I'll have to ask, and then I'll post the reason. I'm sure he was NEVER a Beatles fan. He was a little too busy in Vietnam to give a rats butt about the British Invasion. (And that was the nicest way I could think of to phrase that! I can just hear HIM giving an opinion of the Beatles, lol!!)

Burrhead    Posted 06-07-2004 at 20:10:58       [Reply]  [No Email]
I never even heard of the Beetles myself that I remember til I got back stateside.

What little Army radio I heard had mostly polka and soul train hoss manure on it.

Rajah from Delhi    Posted 06-07-2004 at 20:01:30       [Reply]  [No Email]
That is a very nice vessel your father did build, Mrs Thelma and I, from the British Commonwealth must say so too yes. That would be a very safe way to catch the small crocadile I am hopeing to get in Lousiana very soon.

Clipper.....LMAO!!!!    Posted 06-07-2004 at 20:06:14       [Reply]  [No Email]
Yer gonna need a bigger submarine!!!

Burrhead    Posted 06-07-2004 at 20:04:54       [Reply]  [No Email]

Your dad was (or is) a smart fellow! I have always had an interest in submarines, though I wondered how submariners stood to stay underwater. I am cursed with claustrophobia, and wouldn't even dare go inside one to look around!

My oldest brother was on a submarine, The Billfish all during WWII.

He loves it. I've never been in the water with it, but he says he's going to bring it back here for me to have someday. I'm not sure I could go to 1400ft, which is what it's rated for, but I would like to motor around my pond with it. It would give the neighbors something new to talk about.

Forgot to mention... He lives in the desert. Go figure, huh? ;)

~Lenore    Posted 06-07-2004 at 19:46:51       [Reply]  [No Email]
I think Clipper could share his Russian submarine experience again.
If not I may have to tell it myself and I know it wont be right. I can never seem to get all the facts straight. I could possibly change it all around, and mess it up. LOL

thelma    Posted 06-07-2004 at 19:50:33       [Reply]  [No Email]
Yeah, I wanna hear it!!
